Unlike the odourless sweat that is produced by eccrine glands, apocrine glands produce sweat that has a distinct body odour after contact with bacteria.

Sweat is produced by eccrine and apocrine glands in the skin. Eccrine sweat glands are found over most of the body and produce sweat without any odour. On the other hand, apocrine sweat glands are not as widespread and are typically just found in the underarms and groin area.

Botox anti sweating injections work to block a neurotransmitter that stimulates sweat glands, leading to a decrease in sweat production for approximately 6 months.

Although temporary, anti sweating injections are highly effective and give great relief after treatment. Some patients use botox injections (Botulinum Toxin Type A) to treat sweaty underarms. Botox temporarily blocks the signals that tell your glands to start sweating.
